GFODL NEWS Register to vote Date Added: 02/25/06 HB-6 introduced Date Added: 11/21/06 I need people willing to take an active role in making making positive changes to Georgia's gun laws. It is now more important than ever to get a strong org going here in Georgia. Several counties are making up their own rules and requirements for issuing the GFL. The Rules committee in both houses killed off most of the pro gun bills that otherwise would have been on the governor’s desk. They did this by not putting them on the calendar for a vote. We need to identify and eliminate the threats to our rights by actively campaigning against them. Contact me if you wish to help. OVERVIEW ABOUT GFODL Georgia Firearm Owners Defense League is a grass roots organization made up of law abiding citizens who own or enjoy the lawful use of firearms. We are working to reduce and/or eliminate the ever increasing restrictions on law abiding firearm owners in Georgia. We focus on safety, education and communication. We also try to bring truth, logic and balance to the gun control debate in the Georgia General Assembly.   ACTIONS Grassroots efforts to protect the liberty of firearms owners. Uniting firearm owners against gun control. Community and media outreach on gun issues. Opposing violations of Constitutional rights of firearm owners. Fax and Email campaigns. OUR STAND The safe and legitimate use of firearms for defense, sport shooting, hunting and all legal purposes. Protect the rights of law-abiding citizens to carry firearms. Oppose firearm registration in any form. Preventing an assault weapon ban in the state of Georgia. To get lawmakers to control criminals and not law abiding citizens. Advocate for less restrictions on Georgia Firearm License holders.   GOALS Current Goals Include Getting a bill passed that will allow Georgia Firearm License holders to carry defensive weapons where alcohol is served. (restaurant carry) Removing the public gathering restrictions for Georgia Firearm License holders. Preventing laws based only on falsehoods and skewed surveys. Creating a Firearm Owners Defense Fund. Dispelling the myth of the gun show loophole. Immunity from lawsuits for gun manufacturers.
