COWETA COUNTY

Probate Court Location: 22 E. Broad Street
Newnan, GA 30263-1973
Tel: 770-254-2640

8:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays

The Probate Court is on E. Broad Street, in Newnan. It is a big white government building just one block off the courthouse square that houses many other county government functions.

The probate court wanted cash. $43 in exact change (although I know for a fact sometimes they make change out of petty cash).

The probate court gives you the fingerprint cards and instructs you to go to the Sheriff's Department and bring them back at your leisure.

You then take the fingerprint cards to the Sheriff's Department. The $5 fee may be included in the $43, I don't recall.

I walked the cards to the Sheriff's Department and back to the probate court all in one morning, the entire process of which took less than an hour, and the license arrived in just a little over two months.

Just a note on the Coweta County process, these people are polite and helpful, and I did not discern a hint of anti gun bias or hostility.

Total funds needed to complete: $43.00
