DOUGLAS COUNTY Probate Court Location: Douglas County Court House 8700 Hospital Drive Douglasville, GA 30134 Tel: 770-920-7249     You will need $15 cash for a application fee. A clerk will have you take an oath and then proceed to type your information on the application. The clerk will then print out the completed application and give you fingerprint cards along with directions to the Douglas County Sheriff's office Lithia Springs precient on Thornton Rd. The clerk will then instruct you to take the completed application, fingerprint cards, and a money order in the amount of $24 to be made out to the G.B.I. to the S/O precient in Lithia Springs. Once you get to the S/O, the deputy on duty will take your application and money order and will proceed to fingerprint you. Depending on the Deputy you encounter, he/she may charge you a $5 fee to fingerprint you - since this money goes straight into the Deputy's pocket. Once you're done being fingerprinted, the Deputy will collect all your paperwork and have you sign off on the fingerprint cards. The Deputy will then put the application, fingerprint cards, and money order into an envelope and mail it to the G.B.I. The Deputy will the offer you a chance to sign up for a free public handgun training course that will be offered at the training center at the main sheriff's office in Douglasville. This course is NOT required and completely optional, though you do learn some pretty good info and get range time with your pistol. The Deputy informed me that my license could take anywhere from 2-6 months to arrive in the mail.
