Upon completing the application with the Probate Court, you must take the application to the Gwinnett County Police Permits Unit (678.377.4300) for fingerprinting. The unit's hours are Mon – Thur 8:30am – 11:30am and 1:00pm – 4:30, and Friday 8:00am – noon. Fees regarding fingerprinting are $5.00 cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, or money order payable to the Gwinnett County Permits Unit and $24.00 in the form of a money order, cashier's check, Visa, Mastercard, or certified check made payable to the Gwinnett County Permits Unit. These fees are to be paid at the time of fingerprinting. Please note: if paying in cash at the Permits Unit, you must have exact change ($29.00).

The firearm license will be mailed in approximately 90 days.

I went in on the 16th of November to apply for my license. I was a little annoyed that I would have to go to 2 different buildings to get everything taken care of, but I guess it's not that unusual from other posts I have read. I was told it would be about two months, so I wasn't expecting anything until the new year. Much to my surprise it showed up in the mail on Saturday. Very pleasant surprise.

I would say the electronic fingerprinting was the biggest factor.
